Principle 1: The Executive Government of New Zealand has full power to govern, and the Parliament of New Zealand has full power to make laws, (a) in the best interests of everyone; and (b) in accordance with the rule of law and the maintenance of a free and democratic society.
Principle 2: (1) The Crown recognises, and will respect and protect, the rights that hapū and iwi Māori had under the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi at the time they signed it. (2) However, if those rights differ from the rights of everyone, subclause (1) applies only if those rights are agreed in the settlement of a historical treaty claim under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975
Principle 3: (1) Everyone is equal before the law. (2) Everyone is entitled, without discrimination, to (a) the equal protection and equal benefit of the law; and (b) the equal enjoyment of the same fundamental human rights.

EVEN A MAJORITY OF LABOUR AND GREEN VOTERS SUPPORT OR ARE UNDECIDED ABOUT THE BILL!
MAJORITY OF TE PATI MAORI SUPPORTERS ARE UNSURE

Someone has Christopher the Scaredy Cat's knees knocking and palms sweating but it isn't the people who vote for him. It isn't even the people who vote for his coalition partners. We can only conclude that Christopher is petrified of the minority of New Zealanders who
oppose the Bill.
Is he scared that Leader of the Opposition Chris Hipkins
will tear shreds off him and make him look bad? Maybe...
but look bad to who? People who will never vote for him!
Is it the activists he is afraid of? The hikoi and protestors
can be intimidating... but come on, man! You're the Prime Minister!
We could easily include the media in the activist category, but getting a telling off by Jenna Lynch on telly or stinging write up from Newsroom probably fill the Prime Minister's nightmares all on their own. The thing he needs to remember is that behind the media wall is a population that isn't buying their cheerleading for separatism and race-based rights. New Zealanders do not trust the media. We see the blatant bias and manipulation they convince themselves doesn't exist.
